چکیده

The Silicon Vertex Detector (SVD) is the main diagnostic tool in the ALPHA-experiment. It provides precise spatial and timing information of antiproton (antihydrogen) annihilation events (vertices), and most importantly, the SVD is capable of directly identifying and analysing single annihilation events, thereby forming the basis of ALPHA's analysis. This paper describes the ALPHA SVD and its upgrade, installed in the ALPHA's new neutral atom trap. & 2013 CERN. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Status and prospects of the LHCb Vertex Locator

The Vertex Locator of the LHCb experiment is a dedicated subdetector for the reconstruction of primary and secondary vertices in b-hadron decays. The vertex detector features two halves with 21 modules each, mounted on retractable bases. Each module consists of two half-disk silicon micro-strip sensors measuring hits in R and Φ coordinates. The strip pitch ranges from 40 to about 100 μm. A vacu...

The LHCb Upgrade from 1 to 40 MHz readout

The LHCb experiment at the LHC will upgrade its detector to take data at luminosities of above 1033 cm−2s−1 from 2018 onwards. The fully upgraded detector will use a new front-end electronics to readout collision events at 40MHz. A new fully software based trigger will be implemented and will increase the trigger efficiencies, specially in the hadronic decay channels. The silicon vertex detecto...

The Belle Silicon Vertex Detector

The silicon vertex detector of the Belle experiment has been built to provide the vertex information of B meson decays at the KEKB accelerator. It consists of three cylindrical layers of double sided, double metal silicon sensors read out by VA1 chips. The analog signals are transmitted to a system of fast analog-to-digital converters and are reduced on a system based on Motorola Digital Signal...

Beam Backgrounds at CLEO : Design andPerformance of the

2 Abstract In November 1995, the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) began Phase II operations. The CESR/CLEO Phase II upgrade involved the installation of a silicon vertex detector for the CLEO experiment and an interaction region optimized for a small-radius beampipe and bunch-train collisions at total beam currents of 600 mA. The design of the CESR Phase II Interaction Region is described a...

The CLEO III Upgrade

The CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) is completing a major upgrade that significantly extends its physics reach in the study of heavy quarks and leptons. The major elements of this detector upgrade are the installation of a “fast” ring imaging Cherenkov detector, a new central drift chamber and a new barrel-style silicon strip vertex detector. Trigger and data acquisiti...
